Belle Anne Elizabeth
She was born into this world on December 11, 2001 and was given the name Princess Belle. We adopted her on November 16, 2003 and named her Belle Anne Elizabeth. She was a rescue dog; we don’t know much about her past. We were her fourth (and final) home. Once we adopted her, the work began. She was a wreck of a dog who deserved a chance at a good home were she was loved and cherished. We already had another rescued Irish Setter at the time (Kenobi Maximum Force, called Maxie). At first Belle Anne Elizabeth did not get along with him. To help her, we had to have an animal behaviourist come to our home to work with her. She was a beautiful and precious little girl. We later found out that she had come from a backyard breeder, but it didn’t make any difference to us. We loved her very much. From the beginning, she had multiple medical issues—-Allergies, Hypothyroidism, Atypical Cushing’s, Spondylosis in her back and Arthritis in her tail. Eventually, she developed MRSA. At the the same time she developed MRSA, she was diagnosed with chronic liver failure. As a result, the MRSA treatment was all topical medicines and medicated baths. With the chronic liver failure, in addition to her medicines, we added a daily piece of baked salmon. She just loved that soooooo much. As the salmon baked, she would stand in front of the oven doing her little Belle Anne dance and roo rooing.
We took her to obedience classes where she did really well. We used to walk her in our local nature preserve. She loved looking at the birds, geese and ducks. She even had a little coyote friend.
Belle Anne Elizabeth was diagnosed with lung cancer on April 2, 2014. It came as a total shock. She was given 1 to 2 months to live; she gave us 4. She was a tough little girl. We did doggie hospice with her. She left us on August 20, 2014. I believe that when she crossed the Rainbow Bridge that day, she really did not want to leave us, but she knew it was her time. I will never forget the look on her little face.
Belle Anne Elizabeth was a very special little girl. We miss her so very much. We were given a special grace and privlege to have been chosen to be her guardians. She will always be in our thoughts and hearts
Until we meet you again at the Rainbow Bridge, Belle Anne Elizabeth, we love you.
God looked around His garden
And He found an empty place
He then looked down upon the earth
And saw your precious face
He put His arms around you
And lifted you to rest;
God’ s Garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering
He knew you were in pain
He knew you’ d never ever
Get well on earth again.
So He closed your weary eyelids
And whispered ” Peace be thine “
Then He took you up to Heaven
With Hands so gentle and kind.
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you did not go alone,
For part of us went with you
The day God welcomed you home.
